the intensity of color, contrast, or scale
— how strongly an element calls for attention

Loudness is the volume of the interface.
It is not noise; it is intensity
— the degree to which an element pushes forward.

Loud elements feel:

• urgent — high contrast, bright color
• dominant — large scale, strong weight
• immediate — they speak first

Quiet elements feel:

• gentle — low contrast, soft color
• supportive — they stay in the background
• calm — they let the structure breathe

Loudness is a tool of emphasis, not a style.

• Contrast — higher contrast = louder
• Color saturation — brighter = louder
• Scale — larger = louder
• Weight — bolder = louder

Loudness shapes hierarchy.

Use it sparingly — loudness without purpose becomes noise.
